I am HHR (Hedda Hondon Raa) and I have been drawing and painting (plus combining the two) since 2008. I live both in Copenhagen and outside of Kalundborg by the seaside of Western Zealand in Denmark, where I create paintings and drawings out of my workspace/gallery, Gallery HHR c/o on Lerchenborg” situated at Lerchenborg castle.

At the beginning of 2023, I started showcasing my work publicly and have since then done several exhibitions, workshops, collaborations and the opening of a gallery.

I create my work in the same manner as I practice to live, present and according to and inspired by the natural physicality of my existence and that of my surroundings. I have a spontaneous expression that differentiates from piece to piece and currently I am working on four different series:

- ‘Globe Heads’ (abstract faces)
- ‘Other Animals’ (abstract animal shapes)
- ‘Selfie vs Cellfie’ (here I receive a photo of a person and create what I call a ‘Cellfie’)
- ‘HHR Copying HHR’ (my newest series, where I reuse the images of older drawings or paintings and copy it in many different ways and on various materials)

I work with paper/canvas and also often paint on recycled materials such as wooden boards, chairs, tables, fridges and freezers. My preferred media are acrylic paint/markers, spray paint, oil paint/sticks, oil pastels, graphite, eraser liquid and often I throw in some sand in the mix.

In every piece, you can find my signature HHR.

To me, creative output brings liveliness and human connection, and it’s a huge pleasure and privilege to be collaborating with poets and musicians on and off stage. On stage I draw and paint alongside them. The pieces that I create during these shows are called ‘That figure’ (Show Paintings). Before a show, I will always make preparation works, which I call ‘That figure’ (Rehearsal Paintings).
I have created illustrations for poetry, covers for musicians and designs for t-shirts and bike helmets!
